At Afresh, our commitment to our communities extends beyond our products and technologies. We’re creating a workplace that embraces diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB), and where everyone can make an impact while being celebrated for their fully authentic selves. 

People are culture

Alongside leadership and key stakeholders, the DEIB committee at Afresh is passionately working to increase representation of all identities, champion exceptional experiences, and foster an inclusive culture where people from any background can do their best work. 

The committee regularly assesses, evolves, and measures the efficacy of our programs and processes across three areas: 

  1. Attracting, hiring, and retaining top diverse talent
  2. Cultivating equitable promotion and career development programs
  3. Fostering a community where each unique identity is honored and celebrated

We pride ourselves in giving Afreshies the power and freedom of acceptance while solving for the #1 solution to curb climate change: reducing food waste.

An intentional approach towards hiring

We’re growing our company and our team with an intentional eye on DEIB. Fresh perspectives are mission-critical for our rocket ship of a startup, and we look for opportunities to increase diversity at every stage of the recruiting and hiring process, from initial outreach to offer acceptance. Our focus remains on identifying and attracting top talent from all backgrounds to create a rich array of diverse identities.

Creating an inclusive Afresh experience

Once on board at Afresh, we consistently evaluate and support opportunities for professional development and career progression to ensure that all employees have equitable access to growth and educational advancement. 

This includes BetterUp, a holistic development platform for both people managers and individual contributors, in addition to a yearly stipend for continuous learning initiatives such as conferences, bootcamps, and seminars. Within the Engineering team, new hires are also paired with more senior staff as mentors within the organization.

Keeping DEIB at the forefront

Whether we’re gathering together to watch Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech; Zooming in to an employee-led talk on queer identity and work; or learning about the cuisine of the Philippines, Afreshies have the space and support to share their voice within the broader organization.
